Think of this wine as a more frugal alternative to Clinet. La Croix-du-Casse has turned in three very impressive efforts in the 1993-95 vintages. Performing better after bottling than before (there is no fining or filtration practiced at La Croix-du-Casse), the dark plum-colored 1994 displays an exotic, coffee, tobacco, sweet, jammy, blackcurrant and cherry-scented nose, ripe, highly-extracted flavors with surprising opulence (especially for a 1994), fine purity, low acidity, and moderate tannin. This medium-bodied, exciting 1994 can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-12 years.(Wine Advocate #109 Feb 1997).....
